Employee Law 101

Whether you have one employee or hundreds, understanding the impact of the Employee Standards Act and proper Benefit Plan Administration is key to mitigating risk and ensuring your organization’s financial health. Students will learn practical advice on how to create best practices regarding employment law in order to reduce potential liability and ensure proper compliance.
Who should enroll?
Anyone who is responsible for human resource management. This is a basics course designed to highlight key employment law and benefit plan administration issues for employers in a non-union workplace.
This course will be especially beneficial to new HR managers and to organizations that do not have a formal Human Resource Department

• Hiring - discrimination, BC Human Rights Code
• Contracts - essential elements, specific terms and termination
• Understanding obligations set in the Employment Standards Act
• Termination - with/without cause, methodologies, options
• Benefit Plan Administration
There will be time dedicated to answering attendees' questions. We encourage you to bring any queries you have about employment law regulations and best practices to the session.
