Course Description

This seminar will focus on understanding the important basics of construction contracts, including the identification and explanation of key terms contractors need in their contracts to protect themselves and their businesses. Attendees will learn practical advice on how to control your circumstances and limiting liability with strong contracts, which will include the review of precedent cases as examples.

Who Should Attend?
Building industry company owners and anyone who is responsible for the development, sales, signing and/or execution of contracts.  This is a basics course designed to highlight key contract issues for business owners. Anne Cochrane, Associate, Kuhn LLP

Anne serves a wide variety of individual, corporate, government, and charitable clients, guiding them through legal and practical problems both in and outside the courts. Anne has appeared before administrative tribunals as well as before the Provincial, Supreme, and Appeal Courts of British Columbia. She has also assisted in the preparation of materials and arguments for consideration by the Supreme Court of Canada. Anne currently teaches the Construction Law licensing course on behalf of the Canadian Home Builder’s Association and has served as an editor of the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law. As a law student, Anne received academic awards for the highest standing in tax law and labour law, as well as distinctions for placing in the top 10% of her class. Anne practices primarily from Kuhn's Vancouver office, but she also works with clients out of their Fraser Valley office on a regular basis.
