Course Description

High-performance building can be complicated and exploring different options can be expensive and time consuming but bringing key project partners at the beginning of the planning process -- the Integrated Design Process -- can address anticipated challenges earlier and create a more holistic high-performance build.

IDP empowers builder knowledge and choice when building (and renovating) to higher energy performance standards and in this webinar, the speakers will provide tools, strategies and lessons learned to help you to successfully move forward to Step 3 and beyond.

  • Arman Mottaghi, Properate.io, will walk-through case studies on deep energy retrofits and new build strategies utilizing his award-winning software that incorporates the latest energy efficiency, carbon accounting, and building science for use by construction professionals, governments, utilities and homeowners.
  • Einar Halbig, E3 Eco Group, will take a deep dive into the role of an EA as your IDP resource. More than just conducting energy assessments, your EA is a key project partner who works with the builder to optimize a building’s design to achieve code requirements while considering different building types and the homeowners. Einar will detail approaches taken on recent projects to demonstrate changes in design and construction strategies to achieve higher Step Code levels.
  • Ranvir Khosla, FortisBC, will detail how utilities are also an important part of the IDP process, and will share how their rebates and programs can assist builders in achieving Step Code requirements and meet the needs of the homeowners.
