Course Description

This is part 2 of a recording of the Local Energy Efficiency Partnerships (LEEP) for Renovations, presented by NRCan and BC Housing, and supported by HAVAN and other industry partners, initially presented on September 29, 2022. This course is designed to reduce your time and risk in identifying, refining, and selecting innovations that can improve the energy and carbon performance of the homes you renovate.

This Forum brings technical experts, manufacturers, installers, renovators, and building owners together to review the business case, best practices, and technical solutions available through the local supply chain, for energy and carbon efficient deep renovations. Content will focus on:

  • Mechanical system design and performance considerations
  • Envelope renovation systems building science, durability, and resilience
  • Renewables and battery storage

You will:

  • Hear from a group of renovators in your region on why they chose to set these specific envelope and mechanical challenges for manufacturers.
  • Compare how manufacturers respond with their best practice solutions and costing for the same home renovation project. (Let’s you compare on an ‘apples to apples’ basis.)
  • Decide which approaches you would recommend to potential clients and consider how you want to enhance your renovation practices.

Syllabus:

  • Exterior Insulated Renovation Systems
    • Exploring a local example of a LEEP renovated home
    • Optimizing home performance for future climate
    • Retrofit walls - thermal performance, resilience, durability
    • Pre-Fabricated Carbon Storing Systems
