Course Description

HAVAN members Foxridge Homes, a Qualico Company and Capital Home Energy take builders on a tour of a production-built single-family home in Langley, BC to share the strategies implemented in this development with the goal to achieve BC Energy Step Code 3 but at final, the toured home achieves BC Energy Step Code 4. The first part of the tour is at mid-construction, where the builder and the energy advisor discuss key parts of the build to ensure it meets the Energy Step Code metrics, including the exterior envelope assembly and air barriers, high-efficient gas-fueled heating systems, window/glazing selection, working with trades, thermal imaging, and the importance of conducting a mid-way blower door test to gauge one’s progress. The second part of the video revisits the home just before homeowner occupancy and the final blower door test is conducted.

(Recorded in November 2021 and January 2022)
